Neulich ist ein Druck verunglückt. Die angehende Baby-Karte hing halb daneben und ist während des Schließens komplett aus den Greifern gerutscht. Die Schrift stand dann deplatziert schräg auf dem Papier. Ganz schön schräg! Das Blatt habe ich irgendwo hingeklebt und mir noch ein paar Stunden angeguckt. Am Ende des Tages fand ich nur noch schräge Schrift toll und es juckte in den Fingern, den eigentlichen Fehler serienmäßig zu reproduzieren. Eine professionell schräg geschlossene Druckform kam mir nicht in den Sinn, ich suchte eher nach einer quick and dirty Lösung. Die Anlage aus Papierstreifen schräg auf den Aufzug kleben, das mußte reichen. Zack, fertig. Wie gut, wenn Zeit zum Spielen bleibt. :)

You know sometimes a design is based on a misfortune. While printing hello baby cards the other week one sheet slipped out of the grippers and the design was printed in some strange angle on the sheet. But nice anyhow. I've sticked it somewhere and it kept in my mind during the day. At the end I liked it that much that I tried reproduce it. I took some letters to print my website address. Figured out the right angle and placed the grippers on the tympan. That's it. Luckily there's time to play around.

Während ich so vor mich hin werkel, hat mein Buchbinder meine Drucke zu einigen hübschen Alben gebunden. Ein erster Linolschnitt übrigens, dabei arbeite ich gar nicht so unglaublich gern mit Linol. :)

In the meantime I handed some prints over to my bookbinder. (I finally printed from a linocut.) He did some wonderful hand bound photo albums. I love that linen. Bookbinding is a beautiful craft, isn't it?
Sommer in Berlin. Im S-Bahnhof Griebnitzsee kann man sich Boote leihen, ein paar Stufen runter zum Wasser tragen und abfahren.

Mein Ausblick, wenn ich am Rechner arbeite.
Für die Girlanden hätte ich noch gern einen großen Ast, aber ein Wald ist hier gerade nicht in der Nähe. Noten- und Atlasgirlande habe ich mir bei Christiane (renna deluxe) ertauscht und die kleinen bunten Punkte sind von Simone (raumundlicht). Ich wünsche Euch ein tolles Wochenende, wir gehen paddeln hoffentlich kommt die Sonne noch raus.

That's my view when working on the computer. I wished to have a branch for the garlands in the window but there's no wood in the neighbourhood.
I swapped the atlas- and music sheet garlands with renna deluxe and bought the colourful dots from raumundlicht on dawanda.

type cases for the wall

Nachdem ich meine Lettern in den neuen Schrank umsetzen mußte hatte ich plötzlich einen ganzen Haufen Setzkästen übrig, vor allem Stehsatz Kästen unterschiedlicher Größe. Als sie so aufgereiht an der Wand lehnten um in den Keller getragen zu werden, kam mir die Idee sie würden sich gut als Bilderrahmen und Inspirations-Board machen. Ein Glück mußte J. sie anbringen, ich habe mich auf altkluge Kommentare aus 2 Meter Entfernung beschränkt.
Zwei wurden innen weiß und in einige kamen Nägel und Trennleisten. So ist's doch besser als im Keller, oder?

After I moved my type into the new composing shelf a lot of cases in different sizes were left over. They leaned against the wall waiting to be stored in the cellar. I noticed they look quite nice all in one row and so the idea of using them for presenting cards and collecting inspiring things was born.
J. mounted them on the wall while I provided some unnecessarily tips from the distance. It wasn't so easy to get them in a row.
I painted two of them and put some nails on. After all I am very happy about my new wall decoration. :)
