hooray, a new card

27.04.2011

hurra it's a baby2

It's a bit quiet over here. We are working on our new flat and preparing a journey. In the meantime a new card went into the shop. I finally did a hello baby card, hooray! So long awaited. And what's next? A wedding card for sure :)

new letters

type - 1type - 2

I bought these letters last week from somebody in Neukoelln. The box is so h-e-a-v-y. I have to look for more cases.

let's swap some seeds

18.04.2011

--------
Today something completely different: I have a workshop colleague called Simone. She is the only one with a balcony at her atelier and we sit there having a coffee or a tea for a break and enjoy the sun. She came up with the idea to buy seeds and do a bit of gardening instead of just buying new plants. I liked her idea so much that I ordered immediately seeds for our south balcony at home. I went a bit over the top and here am I with seeds for nearly a 10 square meter bed. Way to much :) So I would like to swap some of them. I don't want my balcony covered with look alike flowers at the end (assumed the'll grow). If you would be interested to swap seeds leave me a comment. Flowers, herbs or vegetable – everything is welcome and will get a pot on my balcony.
By the way Simone hasn't seeded actually. She was busy with her T-Shirts for Japan that are now printed and turned out very well. She donates her profit to a relief project in Japan, more info here.

printed some tags for easter

printing hang tags
easter hang tags
--------
I thought about some tags for easter on monday and printed them yesterday. Very late – I know. Finishing things last minute means less time for any changes concerning idea and layout. I like it anyway, it's a very productive way for developing new products. The hang tags are available here and thereWith or without a brown paper bag.

vintage letters

Today I wished to be in Paris to shop vintage letters at Kidimo. And to have a big Café au lait after. I would be back in the evening as I am attending a workshop with Kasa today to make a concrete lamp stand. I'll show you then :)

a book of typefaces

a visual history of typefaces

Das Buch A Visual History of Typefaces and Graphic Styles vom Taschen Verlag zeigt Schriftmuster noch und nöcher.

This is actually my favourite book. "A Visual History of Typefaces and Graphic Styles" published by Taschen. I bought it while heading through a local art supply store to get some new spatula. That book is all about type specimens and weighs a ton. In the introduction the collector Jan Tholenaar writes about his passion for type specimens that made him seek for type treasuries in many second hand bookshops in the world. Now he has 35 meter specimen books in his library one of them the Manuale tipografico from Bodoni. Crazy man. But thinking of specimen I must admit there's one booklet from House Industries and a few booklets from Underware in my drawer. That's not a real comparison but I understand a bit why to collect type specimen. Words that represent the typeface without a real message are graphically nice.

phonetic spelling alphabet

06.04.2011

Die aktuelle Show Roger that! zeigt nämlich typographisch spielerische Umsetzungen des (internationalen?) Buchstabieralphabets. Toll.

I wish I would live in London. You would find me then today at the Kemistry Gallery staring at the posters of their current show "Roger that!". The people of Eat Sleep Work / Play and Inventory Studio played with letters and graphics to interpret the phonetic spelling alphabet. So cool. My favourite one is the B for bravo. via eye

Took some photos in the meantime. Couldn't throw the scraps away.

lunch break with uppercase

01.04.2011

Toll. Ein schönes Wochenende Euch allen.
--------
I'll spend my lunch break today with the eagerly awaited Uppercase Magazine that finally made the way over the pond and arrived in my postbox. With some fruits and yogurt I'll sit in the sun reading the article with Ben Levitz from studio on fire. Great. Have a nice weekend everybody.
