Breakfast at Markthalle IX

Sonntags um halb zehn schon das zu Haus verlassen ist normalerweise nicht meine Art. Aber beim Breakfast Market muß man früh dran sein heißt es, wie eigentlich bei allen Veranstaltungen in der Markthalle IX in Kreuzberg.
Ich bin ich mehr der Croissant und Kaffee Typ und kann maximal ein herzhaftes Ei zum Frühstück nehmen, aber der Duft von Breakfast Burritos und geräuchertem Schweinebauch ist schon verlockend. Sicherheitshalber starte ich doch mit Apfel-Himbeer Porridge und Kaffee gefolgt von Apple Crumble, gegrilltem Avocado-Tomaten Sandwich, Apfel-Minz-Limetten Tee on Ice und Eggs Benedict. Lecker. Für das Eis und die Waffeln ist leider kein Platz mehr.
Mit vollem Bauch schlenderten wir noch über den Trödelmarkt am Boxhagener Platz an um die Kalorien wieder abzulaufen.
Der Breakfast Market ist jeden 3. Sonntag im Monat von 10-18 Uhr.

9.30 a.m. on a Sunday morning is typically not my time to leave the house. But the "Breakfast Market" is calling so we head our way to Kreuzberg to the old unrenovated Markthalle IX where the food fun is happening.
I was told we have to be early to avoid long lines and soon as we entered the market and sat down with a coffee the tables filled up quickly. I normally prefer a sweet breakfast but the smell of smoked pork, burritos and burgers was tempting. I started with apple-rasberry porridge and ate my way through apple crumble, grilled avocado-tomato sandwich and eggs benedict. I would have loved to try the home made waffles and ice cream but I will do next time. The Breakfast Market is every third sunday per month at Markthalle IX from 10-6.

Aus dem Urlaub zurück und knietief in Arbeit versunken. Ich bereite einen kleinen Stand auf der Hochzeitsmesser Love Circus vor, feile an Hochzeitskarten-Mustern, Favor Bags, Save the Date Karten und so weiter. Ziel des Ganzen ist Euch zu zeigen, was man in einem Wedding-Workshop selbst drucken kann, wenn man denn möchte. Dass ich selbst auf der Messe nicht anwesend sein kann, macht es etwas schwierig... Details folgen. Und Bilder aus Lissabon am Wochenende.

Back from our trip to Lisbon I am busy with preparing a little table for the upcoming wedding show Love Circus. I try to print samples of wedding cards, save the dates, favor bags etc. that could be made in a bridal-couple-print-class next month. Very challenging just with metal type.

Hey, in den letzten drei Tagen wurden meine Sachen in Tokio ausgestellt. Wie toll ist das denn? Taro hat sich sehr viel einfallen lassen was die Dekoration angeht, schaut mal: deutsche Eintrittkskarten, Stempel, Bleilettern, ein Lineal, Luftpost-Umschläge! Passt voll gut. Zu gern wäre ich persönlich dort gewesen um zu beobachten wie die Leute auf die Sachen reagieren. Japan hat ja generell so schöne Papiersachen. Seufz. Ich bin sehr gespannt, wie es weitergeht.

Wow, I had a table at a show in Tokyo. Can you believe it? I can't. My distributor Taro arranged my products nicely with letters, rulers, airmail envelopes and even german tickets. It looks so great. Sadly Tokyo is too far for a day trip, but I would have loved to see the show and all the other awesome japanese paper products. Sigh.

Das ist mein extrem leichter Kartenhalter to go.
Da ich mit dem Zug nach Hamburg zu Hello Handmade gefahren bin, brauchte ich sehr leichte Markt-Deko und mußte meine üblichen Setzkästen und Kisten zu Haus lassen. Ich habe in diese leichte Architekten Pappe mit einer ausgedienten Radiernadel kleine Löcher reingestochen und Haken reingesteckt. Fertig.
Jetzt hängt sie an meiner Tür und viele fragen mich nach dem Material. Ich habe schwarze Kapa Pappe genommen, das ist eine 5 mm dicke mit Papier bezogene Schaumstoffplatte. Man kann sie sehr gut schneiden und auf dem schwarzen Papier mit einem weißen Buntstift oder Kreide schöne Beschriftungen vornehmen. Auf einem Markt-Tisch muß man natürlich noch was dahinter stellen, damit sie nicht umfällt.
That's my card display to go. I've built it from a paper coated foamboard, a special board for architects (I guess). It's very light material, so easy to carry it to a show by train or something. I plunged little hooks in it to hold the cards in place. You can do it easy by yourself.
It's now hanging on my door, but I made it actually for my table at the hello handmade show back in October. I had to put stuff behind it to provide it from falling over but anyways I was quite happy with it. I wrote some info with a white pencil on an overleft board, that looked nice too. Maybe an idea for you guys out there. Good luck with your christmas shows!

Naja, so ein 4-Bett Zimmer zum Verkaufsstand um zu funktionieren ist schon eine Herausforderung. Es war super interessant durch das Hotel zu streifen und zu gucken, wie die anderen Verkäufer ihre Räume umbauen. Leider habe ich nicht annähernd alle Zimmer geschafft, vielleicht 15 von insgesamt 118 Zimmern. Und ich konnte nicht mehr Fotos machen, denn es war sehr voll, die Besucher mußten Schlange stehen... na jedenfalls hängt in Zimmer 408 meine Tapete, das freut mich sehr. Ich bin super zufrieden wie sie ausschaut. Mehr auf dem Dawanda Blog.

Well, it's quite difficult to transform a 4-bed room with bunk beds into a booth or something like that. But it was very interesting to see how the other sellers did that and how the rooms looked like. I just saw 15 of 118 rooms because it was too much and too crowded, the visitors had to wait in a long line. It was fun to meet all the other sellers, the persons behind their Dawanda Shops and to have a real chat. I am also very happy how my wallpaper turned out. Buchmesse Leipzig - Back from the book fair!

Hurra, ich habs geschafft. Mit einem guten Gefühl und vielen Kontakten im Gepäck bin ich nun zurück von der Leipziger Buchmesse startklar für neue Projekte.
Als am Mittwoch, dem Messe Aufbau Tag zuerst unser Leihauto nicht zur Verfügung stand und wir dann schluß endlich mit einigen Stunden Verspätung aus Berlin herauskamen und in Leipzig auf das Messegelände fuhren war ich doch ziemlich nervös. Ich war bisher noch nie Aussteller auf einer Messe daher war alles neu, aufregend und vor allem eins: groß.
So groß, dass ich mich nur in einem kleinen 100 Meter Radius von meinem Stand weg bewegt habe um die lebensnotwendigen Dinge wie Kaffee, Toilette und andere interessante Stände zu erreichen. In die übrigen Hallen habe ich es gar nicht geschafft, aber verrückt kostümierte Cosplayer konnte ich trotzdem sehen. :)
Die Chance mich am Stand anzutreffen war also groß und viele Blogleser aus dem Umkreis und sogar aus weiter Ferne (Servus Wien!) haben persönlich hallo gesagt. Vielen Dank dafür, es ist immer schön die Gesichter zu den Namen kennen zu lernen!
Besonders interessant für mich war der Stand vom Druckladen des Gutenberg Museums aus Mainz, weil dort eine kleine Korrex in Aktion zu sehen war, baugleich zu meiner, nur dass meine nicht so blitzt und blinkt. Diese habe ich natürlich, als weniger Besucher dort waren, sorgfältig unter die Lupe genommen und einige Dinge entdeckt, wie zum Beispiel kleine Besen am Aufzug und einen Farbtisch am Ende, die an meiner Korrex fehlen. Sehr interessant. Und drucken durfte ich auch :)
Aber es gab noch so vieles schönes in Halle 3, daher hier ein paar Bilder.

Hooray I made it! I am back from the book fair in Leipzig. I was really nervous, excited and now I am totally tired... but I made a lot of new contacts and can't wait for the new projects to start. With ups and downs we got to the fair last wednesday as our rental car was unexpected not available and we left Berlin hours too late. Anyway we finally arrived and building a booth on such a big fair was really exciting.
One thing beside all the inspiring booths that caught my eye was a tiny proof press exactly the same as mine. So I went in a quiet moment to see the press in detail, talked to the press man and did a print at the end. Oh, how shiny and sparkling this press was and how used my press would look like compared to it... I spotted some parts like little brushes at the cylinder and an inking table that are missing on my press. Interesting to see!
A big thanks to all the blog readers that showed up! It was a pleasure to meet you and I hope to see you again sometime. And now here we go with some pictures, the Universities always do creative stands:

Tja, wer A sagt muß auch B sagen. Und jetzt haben wir den Salat. A wie Anmeldung war ja leicht aber B wie Buchmesse... schluck. Großes dickes B, das da von den März-Seiten in meinem Kalender heftige Wink-Bewegungen in Richtung Januar macht. Und der ist ja auch schon vorbei. Womit wir wieder beim A wären: A wie Arbeiten. Und B wie bloggen. Könnte schwierig werden beides unter einen Hut zu kriegen. Aber es gibt auch A wie Aufregend! Ein großes A! :)

Es ist 9.30 Uhr; unser Stand ist Chaos, wir suchen noch Produkte in unseren Kisten und die Preisschilder lassen sich auch nicht finden. Keine 5 Minuten später stehen wir vor den ersten Besuchern und um 10 Uhr hat sich schon eine Schlange gebildet. Das war so krass! So viele Menschen! Aber ein super organisierter Markt. Vielen Dank dafür und an alle die Hallo gesagt haben! Jetzt bin ich zurück und muß erstmal wieder alles auspacken und mich sortieren...
Wer übrigens mal in Hamburg übernachten will, dem sei das Hostel Schanzenstern in der alten Füllerfabrik Mont-Blanc mit seinem extrem leckeren Bio-Frühstück ans Herz gelegt. Hagebutten Marmelade, wußte gar nicht, dass die gut schmeckt :-)

As we were busy with decorating our booth and searching for the price tags in the mess in our boxes the first visitors arrived. And just a few minutes after opening the doors we could see the the crowd waiting patiently in a long line as it began to rain. It was incredible and unexpected crowded but the market was super duper organized. Thanks for that!
If you want to visit Hamburg I recommend the Hostel Schanzenstern located in the old factory of Mont-Blanc pens. They offer a tasty organic breakfast, I now like hip jam. Yummy!
hello hamburg; hello handmade

Wegen den vielen Vorbereitungen für hello handmade am Sonntag kriegte ich diese Woche keinen Fuß an die Erde... daher auch die wenigen Blogposts. Nun ist bereits Freitag Nachmittag und was ich jetzt nicht mehr schaffe muß wohl zu Hause bleiben, seufz. Ich bin mega gespannt all die anderen Kreativen zu treffen, manche kenne ich bereits online aber ein Gesicht zu ihren Blogs und Produkten zu bekommen ist mit das interessanteste an der ganzen Sache. Außerdem besuche ich in eine Stadt, die ich vor fast 1,5 Jahren verließ und für mich vor allem mit Agenturstress und Fernbeziehungsschmerz verknüpft ist. Daher ist dieses das erste Mal, dass ich mich auf die Fahrt nach Hamburg richtig freue! In diesem Sinn: Ahoi.
ps: ich stehe zusammen mit bastisrike, kommt vorbei! Und hallo, liebe alte Arbeitskollegen ;)

I am so sorry for the lack of posts this week. I am getting ready for the first hello handmade market in Hamburg and this kept me extremely busy this week. I am looking forward to meet all the other creatives there, some I know already from their blogs but to talk in person is always different :) I am back on tuesday with some photos from the market.
