Heutzutage ist es gar nicht so schwer Freunde mit einer Leidenschaft für Typo zu beschenken. Es gibt viele schöne Dinge die fast nur mit Schrift gestaltet sind. Ich habe einige Ideen und Lieblingsprodukte für Euch in einem Geschenke Guide gesammelt. Den Anfang macht heute das Thema Vintage. Was hier noch fehlt sind alte Hefte über Kalligraphie, Letraset Rubbelbuchstaben oder alte Schriftmusterbücher. Einfach mal bei ebay oder im Antiquariat gucken.

Nein, das sind nicht meine Hände. Das sind die von Anna. Sie druckt gerade allerlei Postkarten von einem Sammelbogen für Ihren Shop Manos Verdes.
"Ist das deine Druckwerkstatt?" habe ich neugierig gefragt. "Nein, die meiner Mutter. Sie hat in den 80'ern eine alte Druckerei aufgekauft und mit Kindern und Jugendlichen gearbeitet. Die Presse ist eine Grafix." hat sie gesagt. "Und die Zitrone?" habe ich gefragt. "Die ist vielleicht aus der Druckerei vom Stern. Oder aus einer anderen alten Druckerei."
Vielleicht war sie ja mal auf dem Titeblatt vom Stern habe ich mir gedacht und mir die Zitronenkarten in die Küche gehängt. Die habe ich mit ihr getauscht. Gegen ein paar Stifte. Gedruckte Stifte natürlich.

No these aren't my hands. They belong to Anna from Manos Verdes. I recently swapped some cards with her, lemons against pencils. I asked if she has her own press and she said no, it's her mother's studio, an old print shop that she bought out in the 80'ies. They have a Grafix proof press. The lemon cliché may be from an old newspaper printshop she said. I hung the cards up in my kitchen.
Anna makes beautiful books and boxes besides the postcards, she has an Online-Shop on Dawanda and exhibits at Koppel 66 in Hamburg on all christmas weekends. (yes, christmas is coming!)
a new notebook from grafolita

Mein neuestes Notizbuch kommt aus Lissabon von Grafolita. Ich weiß nicht mehr wann und durch welche Links ich den etsy Shop von Catarina entdeckt habe, aber ich mußte bei so viel fröhlichen Farben direkt zuschlagen. Lissabon ist wohl die einzigste europäische Stadt in der zur Zeit schon Frühling ist. Einer der Gründe, warum wir in drei Wochen einen Kurzbesuch dort machen werden. Catarina hat mir dafür ein paar interessante Tipps gegeben, die ich in mein neues Notizheft eintragen werde. Und damit laufe ich dann durch Lissabon. Seufz.

My latest etsy purchase is a notebook from Grafolita. I found out about Catarina's shop a while ago and loved the colours right away. Also how she's making her books by hand and branding them with her little press. She lives in Lisbon the only european city where it's a kind of spring already. One of the reasons why we are going to visit the city for a short trip in March. Catarina told me some interesting places to go and I'll jot it down in my new notebook. Imagine me strolling through the alleys taking with me a handmade notebook with tips from a local – Awesome.

Fathers Day Special

Schon Mai, herrje wo ist nur die Zeit hin? Muttertag lauert schon hinter der nächsten Ecke, da kann ich wohl nicht mehr abbiegen, aber für den Vatertag habe ich mir folgendes überlegt: Ich habe einen Schwung Schnurrbart Heftchen, die einen kleinen Fleck auf der Vorderseite haben. Nichts dramatisches ansonsten sind sie tadellos, aber sie sind in meinen 2.Wahl Kasten gewandert, der auf seinen nächsten Markteinsatz wartet. Dieser ist aber noch nicht in Sicht. Daher biete sie ich 2 für 1 in meinem Online Shop an, solange der Vorrat reicht. Vielleicht mögt ihr ja welche verschenken.

Oh my, time is running. It's May! Phew. Mother's Day is just around the corner and I missed printing some cards. But I figured out something for Father's Day: I have some Mustache books with a tiny spot on the front that I've put aside. I'll do a 2 for 1 sale as long as stocks last. Tadaaa. Viele viele Wochenenden sind ins Land gegangen und nun ist mein eigener Shop online. Hurra! Fluchend programmierend saß J. die ein und andere Nacht vorm Rechner und ich war wohl auch keine überaus liebenswürdige Auftraggeberin... warum sind da so viele Pixel, wieso ist das jetzt schon wieder fett, nein so aber nicht, lieber anders :)) Aber wie ist es nun geworden? Schön finden wir.
So langsam werden noch ein paar Produkte ergänzt, Schreibfehler eliminiert und irgendwann gibt's vielleicht auch mal Paypal. Und internationalen Versand dann später.

Here we go. My brand new online shop is live now! Hooray. Nights over nights spent J. with programming while I was like: why is this bold, why is this too close, I don't like it that way do it the other way... :)) uhm. But he did a great job, right? Looks fantastic and I am happy. But for now the shop is only in german and there is no international shipping and no paypal... sorry guys from UK, US, Canada, Australia, north and east europe... Mustaches in Frankfurt

Ich mag Frankfurt am Main. Wenn man das Bankenviertel mal weglässt, da bewegt man sich als normaler Mensch ja eh nicht, gibt es ein tolles Mainufer mit netten Biergärten, dann das Viertel Sachsenhausen mit interessanten kleinen Läden sowie tolle Museen. Meine Lieblingsausstellung war damals die über Yves Klein in der Schirn. In der Studienzeit habe ich in Frankfurt gearbeitet und ein halbes Jahr sogar mal dort gewohnt. Im Winter... brrr. Wann immer es die Zeit erlaubte bin ich in die Buchhandlung Walther König gegangen und danach in die gleich daneben liegende Schokoladenmanufaktur. Mjam. Daher freu ich mich, dass einige meiner Karten nun auch in Frankfurt zu kaufen sind. Schaut mal bei Colekt vorbei, ist ganz neu und natürlich in: Sachsenhausen :)

I guess you mostly know Frankfurt because of its airport, but among this it's a lovely city. I worked there during my studies and liked strolling down the alleys in Sachsenhausen, the historical part of the town. And the museums there are worth a visit. I loved to flip through books in this tiny bookstore and always went next door in the chocolaterie. Yummie. So, I am very happy my cards are available in Frankfurt now, check out Colekt it is pretty new. It's a concept store and the actually theme is... you know what; mustaches :)
